CJ ENM TVING launches ‘UHD 4K’ VOD service for broadcasting and movie in smart TV

TVING is the first domestic OTT operator to establish a ‘UHD 4K Theater’[1] in a smart TV, providing broadcasting and movie contents in UHD 4K quality.

On the 2nd (Tuesday), TVING, an OTT service of entertainment & lifestyle company CJ ENM (CEO Heo Min-heoi), announced that it will present broadcast and movie content in ‘UHD 4K’ quality through Samsung and LG smart TVs [2] for TVING Unlimited Plus subscribers. UHD 4K is an ultra-high-definition digital format that is four times superior to the full HD (1080p) quality that existing OTT operators have been servicing.

Until now, TVING Unlimited Plus subscribers have only watched in Full HD (1080p) quality on their smart TVs. With the launch of the UHD 4K VOD service, subscribers will be able to enjoy more major contents of CJ ENM, such as the movies <Roaring Currents>, <Veteran>, the drama <Reply> series, and <Guardian: The Lonely and Great God>, on the Samsung/LG smart TV TV app 'UHD 4K Theater' with a screen that is four times better than the existing image quality by the end of this year.

CJ ENM announced its plan saying, “Since last year, we have been preparing UHD 4K services so that viewers who use TVING through smart TVs can enjoy content more vividly. In the future, we will gradually expand the service so that viewers can use UHD 4K quality broadcasting and movie contents on various devices.”

The UHD 4K service can be used by any customer who subscribes to TVING Unlimited Plus who owns Samsung and LG smart TVs without additional charges or rate increases.
