CJ Vice Chairwoman Miky Lee Accepts the 2022 International Emmy Directorate Award

Miky Lee, Vice Chairwoman of CJ Group, accepted the International Emmy Directorate Award at the 50th International Emmy® Awards held on November 21st in New York. The award recognizes Miky Lee’s contribution to the Korean culture and media industry as the spearhead leading the Korean wave for the past 25 years.

 

Upon receiving the award, Miky Lee said, “I want to congratulate the International Emmy on its 50th anniversary. I’m truly honored to be awarded on this special occasion. In the 25 years since we started CJ’s Entertainment business, I am grateful to have been the bridge between many talented people and their dreams.”

 

She continued, “I am delighted and proud as a Korean that our content is being recognized, but I share this joy as part of the greater global community. I have heard from so many that the success of Korean content has given everyone hope that anyone can be part of global pop culture.” Adding on, she remarked, “I will continue on my journey of being the bridge. Let’s march on together and connect more people day by day.”

 

Actor Song Joong-ki attended the ceremony as a presenter. Song Joong-ki introduced Miky Lee as the ambassador of Korean culture and remarked, “Miky Lee has been at the center of Korea’s rise in the global entertainment scene from the very beginning. With her instinct for recognizing talent, she continued to support our artists and our industry.” He added, “I cannot think of anyone more deserving of such an award than Miky Lee.”

 

Miky Lee was the Executive Producer for <Parasite>, Korea’s first-ever film to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards and Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, along with <Decision To Leave> and <Broker> which won Best Director and Best Actor at this year’s Cannes Film Festival respectively. Since 2020, she has been the Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. She has also received the Pillar Award, awarded to producers with contributions to the elevation of motion pictures, at the Academy Museum Gala 2022 held in Los Angeles this October.
