'Crash Landing on You' and 'The Cursed' win gold at the Gala Finals of Asian Academy Creative Awards

South Korea’s CJ ENM and Studio Dragon’s biggest hits for 2020, ‘Crash Landing on You’ was named at ‘Best Drama Series’ at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2020 on Dec 4, while screenwriter and director Yeon Sang-ho was recognized as the ‘Best Original Screenplay’ for his latest occult thriller series, ‘The Cursed.’
2020’s mega blockbuster hit drama, ‘Crash Landing on You’, which aired on both tvN and Netflix, won the Best Drama Series. The romance drama, produced by Studio Dragon, recorded ratings of 21.7, the highest ratings in tvN history. The drama has been recognized globally as well, receiving Special Award for Foreign Drama at the Tokyo Drama Awards. The drama tells a story about a beautiful heiress and a leading fashion businesswoman in South Korea meeting a North Korean military officer when she is swept up by a wind storm and accidentally crash landing in North Korean territory while paragliding.
Screenwriter and director Yeon Sang-ho has won the ‘Best Original Screenplay’ for his latest occult thriller, ‘The Cursed’, which aired earlier this year. 'The Cursed', also produced by Studio Dragon, has previously been nominated at Series Mania's International Panorama category earlier this year. Screenwriter Yeon, famous for the dark and sometimes controversial themes, previously directed hit zombie film ‘Train to Busan’. ‘The Cursed’ tells a story about a girl who has ability to curse someone by using his or her name, photo, and a belonging, fighting against the massive evil hidden behind a big company.
Director Lee of ‘Crash Landing on You,’ said “I did not expect this much love globally. I enjoyed creating this drama, and I am so glad to hear that it was enjoyed by many viewers. I want to thank and share this glory to all our staff members.”
Screenwriter Yeon of ‘The Cursed’ said “It was my first time writing a script for a drama series, and I’m so happy to receive this award. I really want to participate and enjoy in this event on site next year.”
CJ ENM’s head of Global Marketing Sehee Jang commented “We won 2 trophies last year, and so did this year. Contents produced by CJ ENM and Studio Dragon are getting recognized globally, and I feel so happy about it.
