‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay’ recognized by NYT as Best International TV Show

CJ ENM’s summer hit ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay’ made the annual list made by the New York Times for the Best International TV Show. It is the second time that a CJ ENM drama series has made the desired list since political thriller ‘Stranger’ was selected in 2017.

Produced by Studio Dragon in 2020, ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay’ was the highest scoring drama of the summer with a peak of 7%. Following a story of an orphaned caretaker working in a psychiatric ward and an infamous children’s book writer with an antisocial personality disorder, the 16 episode show healed the hearts of many viewers all around the world.

The New York Times commented that the drama was an “archly clever series” and praised the “mesmerizing performance” by protagonist Seo Ye-ji, who played the writer, as “both the Cinderella and evil stepmother.”

So Jae-hyun, the Chief Producer for the show said: “We are thrilled that ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay’ has been acclaimed by the New York Times following ‘Stranger.’ As the title suggests, the drama embodies love and sympathy. We hope that viewers watching this drama from all over the world are consoled and enjoy.”

Since its’ release on tvN, ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay’ has been streaming on global entertainment service Netflix.
